On the heels of Phish’s sold out New Year’s week shows, guitarist Trey Anastasio has announced an intimate theatre tour with the Trey Anastasio Band. The outing will kick off on February 18 at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine and include a date at the House of Blues in Boston on February 20. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $39.50 to $55, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

This will be Anastasio’s first tour with full acoustic and electric sets since 1999, when he launched his first full solo run. For the acoustic set, he’ll draw on material written over the course of his entire career. The electric set will feature the return of the septet incarnation of the Trey Anastasio Band (better known as “TAB”) that debuted on his 2010 winter tour, comprising Russ Lawton (drums), Tony Markellis (bass), Ray Paczkowski (keyboards), Russell Remington (tenor saxophone and flute), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet and vocals) and Natalie Cressman (trombone and vocals).

Anastasio recently released TAB at the Tab, a collection of songs from the band”s February 2010 performance at the legendary Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA. Besides being a founding member of Phish, Anastasio has also released eight solo studio albums over the past 13 years, the most recent being 2009’s Time Turns Elastic.

His solo work draws inspiration from experimental jazz, pop, reggae, metal, classical and barbershop music. The Trey Anastasio Band has backed the singer/guitarist on much of his solo work and also serves as a breeding ground of sorts, with many of its songs eventually crossing over into Phish’s repertoire.
