The Pretenders make summer plans
The Pretenders have revealed plans for a summer outing as they continue to tour in support their new album Break Up The Concrete. Chrissie Hynde will lead the band back to Boston for a show at the Bank of America Pavilion on Wednesday, August 12. Tickets for the show are now on sale for $25 to $45 through Live Nation. Cat Power and Juliette Lewis will provide support. The band will also perform in New Hampshire at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom on Saturday, August 8.
Break Up The Concrete, which dropped last October, is the band’s ninth studio album and its first in 6 years. Hynde is backed by a new group of musicians on the album: guitarist James Walbourne, steel guitarist Eric Heywood, bassist Nick Wilkinson, and drummer Jim Keltner.
Power is supporting 2008′s Jukebox, her second album of cover songs. In the fall, Power plans on starting work on a new album of original material for release in early 2010. Lewis is readying the release of her next album, Terra Incognita, which is set to hit store shelves on September 1. The album from the actress/singer was produced by Mars Volta frontman Omar Rodriquez-Lopez.
The Pretenders were most recently in the area for headlining show at the Orpheum Theatre in February. For our review of the show, go here. The band also performed a set at last year’s Farm Aid benefit concert, which was held at the Comcast Center in September.
