The Decemberists top the charts with The King Is Dead

The Decemberists are kings of the charts after selling 94,000 units of their latest album, The King Is Dead, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This is the Oregon group’s first No. 1 album of their career and sixth studio album overall. The increase in sales for their debut week was likely driven by the success of radio-friendly singles “Down By the Water” and “This Is Why We Fight”.

This news means that The Decemberists will be riding high as they visit Boston this weekend for two sold out shows at the House of Blues. They will be joined by Baltimore’s Wye on both Friday and Saturday Night.
