Stars set for New Year’s Eve TV specials

If today’s snowstorm is going to prevent you from going out to celebrate New Year’s Eve, ABC and NBC may still be able to fulfill your musical needs with their TV specials tonight.

ABC is set to air the three-and-a-half hour “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2009” special, which will feature performances from Taylor Swift, Lionel Richie, the Jonas Bros., will.i.am., Natasha Bedingfield, Fall Out Boy, Jesse McCartney, Ne-Yo, Pussycat Dolls, Solange and Robin Thicke. Seacrest will host the main show from New York City while Fergie will host segments from Hollywood. Country star Kellie Pickler will be the Times Square correspondent, reporting on other happenings in and around New York City The 79-year old Clark, who suffered a stroke four years ago, is expected to make an appearance from Times Square for the 37th consecutive year. The show will air live from 10 to 11 p.m. and will then continue from 11:35 p.m. to 2:05 a.m.

Over on NBC, Carson Daly will host a two-hour New Year’s Eve special from Times Square with performances from Sir Elton John, Ludacris, T.I., The Ting Tings, and Katy Perry. The show will air live from 10 to 11 p.m. and will then continue from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
