Pavement to reunite in 2010

It’s official, indie rock heroes Pavement will reunite next year. The band will launch their reunion tour with four sold-out shows at Rumsey Playfield in New York City’s Central Park from September 21 to 24, 2010.

Returning to the stage will be the band’s lineup of bassist Mark Ibold, guitarist Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg, frontman Stephen Malkmus, multi-instrumentalist Bob Nastanovich and drummer Steve West. It is unknown whether the announced New York dates will be at the start, middle, or end of the prospective tour. The band is expected to announce further reunion shows across the world for 2010 over the next few months and rumors continue to persist that he band will headline the Coachella Festival in April. However, fans should be aware that the band’s announcement states, “please be advised this tour is not a prelude to additional jaunts and/or a permanent reunion.”

Pavement, widely considered by many as one the most influential bands of the 90’s, played their last show together in December 1999 at London’s Brixton Academy.
