Trey Anastasio to hit the road for solo tour

After reuniting with his bandmates in Phish for a new album and tour in 2009, guitarist Trey Anastasio will start off 2010 by hitting the road for a solo tour. He’ll make his way to Boston’s House of Blues on Friday, February 12. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $38 and $48, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Classic TAB will once again serve as Anastasio’s backing band.

Anastasio is currently in rehearsals with Classic Tab as the band prepares for shows that will be comprised of setlists that span his solo career. Classic Tab is comprised of Russ Lawton (drums), Tony Markellis (bass) and Ray Paczkowski (keyboards), along with a horn section featuring Russell Remington (tenor saxophone and flute) and Jen Hartswick (trumpet and vocals). New to the group is Natalie Cressman on trombone and vocals, who replaces her father, Jeff Cressman.

Drawing from his wide range of influences, Anastasio has released eight solo albums. His most recent, Time Turns Elastic, recorded with The Northwest Sinfonia, was released last year. Composed with Don Hart, the piece was given its debut by Orchestra Nashville in 2008 and Anastasio performed it with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic in 2009.
