With the Foo Fighters taking some time off, drummer Taylor Hawkins is staying busy with his side project, Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders. Hawkins and company will soon hit the road in support of new album for series of intimate club shows. The band will play Great Scott in Allston on Sunday, May 2 as part of the Fenway Recordings Sessions. Tickets for the 18+ show are $15 and go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through TicketWeb.

Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders will release their new sophomore release Red Light Fever on April 20. The new album follows their 2006 self-titled debut album and is packed with special guest appearances such as Elliot Easton of The Cars, Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen and, of course, Dave Grohl. The band will celebrate its release by performing on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live in April 21.

The upcoming tour will feature Hawkins on vocals and a variety of instruments, joined by veteran Coattail Riders Chris Chaney (bass), Gannin Arnold (guitar), Nate Wood (guitar), as well as Foo Fighters touring percussionist Drew Hester.
