Hometown favorites State Radio are teaming up with Australia’s John Butler Trio for a special show in Boston this summer. The two bands will rock Boston’s harborside with a show scheduled for the Bank of America Pavilion on Friday, June 18. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $16 to $26, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation. Fans can also purchase a special 4-pack of tickets for $18.50 each.

The Boston show is part of the John Butler Trio’s stateside tour that will feature support from State Radio, as well as Medeski Martin & Wood. Boston’s show will serve as the last stop and State Radio will move from the support slot to headliner for their hometown crowd.

The John Butler Trio will be touring in support of their forthcoming release, April Rising. The album, the band’s fifth studio effort and first in three years, is scheduled for release on April 6. The tour will also mark Butler’s first with his new lineup that now features drummer Nicky Bomba and bassist Byron Luiters. The first single from the album, “One Way Road,” is now streaming on the band’s MySpace. It’s also available for purchase through iTunes, while a live version of the same song is being offered as a free download on the band’s official website.

“Nicky, Byron and I are really excited about this next North American tour,” said Butler in a press release. “Hooking up with Chad and the State Radio crew is something we have wanted to do for a long time.”

“We played with John Butler years ago in small clubs holdin’ about 100 people and we’ve kept in touch ever since becoming good friends over the years,” said Chad Stokes of State Radio in a statement. “Last time we saw him we had a blast at the Blues and Roots Fest in Oz…we are wicked psyched to meet up with him and his band again. It’s gonna be a balls to the wall tour!”

State Radio continue to tour in support of their new album, Let It Go. Released last fall, the album follows 2007’s Year of the Crow. Fans can download the album’s lead single, “Knights Of Bostonia”, on the band’s official website for free. In the meantime, check out the awesome video for the song below.
