Jonsi Birgisson, vocalist and guitarist for Icelandic rockers Sigur Ros, has reveled plans for a solo tour of North America. He’ll make his way to Boston for a pair of shows at the House of Blues on Wednesday, May 5 and Thursday, May 6. Tickets, which are priced at $30 and $40, are now on sale through Ticketmaster.

With Sigur Ros on indefinite hiatus, Jons will be touring in support of his forthcoming debut solo album, Go, which is scheduled for release on April 5.

The album is said to be predominantly acoustic and also features string arrangements from composer Nico Muhly. The album was co-produced by Jonsi, Alex Somers, Peter Katis (Interpol) last summer in Reykjavík and Tarquin Studios in Connecticut.

Last year, Jonsi and his boyfriend Alex Somers released their first album together, the all-instrumental Riceboy Sleeps. Sigur Ros’ last studio album was 2008’s Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust (translated in English as With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly).
