Raul Malo, former leader singer for country favorites The Mavericks, has revealed plans for a spring tour that will bring him to Massachusetts for a pair of shows.

The singer will fist stop in Northampton for a show at the Iron Horse Music Hall on Tuesday, April 13. Tickets are now on sale through NBOTickets.com for $28.50. Fans in the metro Boston area will get a chance to see Malo perform live when he stops at Showcase Live! in Foxboro on Wednesday, April 14. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster for $25.

Malo is touring in his support of his latest album, 2009’s Lucky One. The album was released last March and is his first set of all original material since his 2001 solo debut, Today. Malo had spent most of the past few years focused on releasing cover albums, including 2006’s You’re Only Lonely and 2007’s After Hours, which featured his own interpretations of various songs by famous songwirters. Lucky One finds Malo returning to his country, rock, jazz and Latin influences. He wrote most of the album over a two-year period at his Nashville home before working alongside producer Steve Berlin (Los Lobos).
