Piebald plan reissues, possible reunion shows

Hometown favorites Piebald, who have been on hiatus since rocking a pair of farewell shows at the Middle East Downstairs in April 2008, are back in the spotlight. The band is reissuing material form the early part of their career and also planning to return to the stage for a couple of shows.

Rise Records has announced plans to reissue Piebald’s out-of-print catalog. Piebald: First Ten Years will be a three volume set, each volume containing two discs; the set will compile the band’s first three full-lengths (1997’s When Life Hands You Lemons, 1999’s If It Weren’t For Venetian Blinds, It Would Be Curtains For Us All and 2002’s We Are The Only Friends We Have), all of their EPs, b-sides and live tracks. Volume I is expected in late April, while Volumes II and III will be released in May and June respectively.

To mark the occasion, Piebald will perform We Are The Only Friends We Have in its entirety at the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday, May 2. No other shows have been announced but we’re confident that another will be added soon. In a statement on the band’s MySpace, Piebald stated: “Word on the street is that we are reuniting…and, while that is not quite true, we are getting together to play a show (or maybe 2) this year to celebrate the re-release of our out-of-print catalog.”
