New England Americana Festival takes over Church
The New England Americana Festival kicks off tonight at Church for the first of three consecutive nights featuring the area’s best Americana/alt-country acts. Now in its fourth year, the festival formerly known as the Alt Country Extravaganza, has expanded to 3 nights to accommodate more than 30 bands. This year’s lineup features bands that draw from American folk music’s deep heritage in unique ways, often blurring lines between country, rock, blues, gospel, bluegrass, and other styles.
Admission for each of the 21+ shows is $10 and 3-day passes are available for $20. Proceeds from ticket sales will help raise funds for the Coalition for Courage, which supports children in sub-Saharan Africa. Festival sponsors include Narragansett Beer and OurStage.com.
