Massachusetts folk singer Martin Sexton has mapped an extended North American tour supporting the release of his upcoming album Sugarcoating that will bring him to Boston this spring. Sexton will play the House of Blues on Friday, April 17. Tickets, which are priced at $35 and $25, are on sale now through Ticketmaster.

The Northampton based singer-songwriter recently told Billboard.com that Sugarcoating, which is slated to be released on April 6, strives to raise awareness, saying, “There’s always been a taste of awareness on all my records. I didn’t have any that deal with a specific idea, like 9/11, but it’s all pretty much the same. It’s just little more of that spice on this record than on others.”

Prior to setting off on his tour, Sexton will be joining Sarah Lee Guthrie, Tift Merritt, Kris Delmhorst, Meg Hutchinson, and many more for a benefit concert to raise money for the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. A Concert for Loved Ones in Haiti will be held at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield on Sunday, February 14. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
