Frightened Rabbit have revealed plans for the release of the new album and subsequent touring. The Scottish indie rockers will release their third album, The Winter Of Mixed Drinks, on March 9. After stops at South By Southwest and the Coachella Festival, Frightened Rabbit will play Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on Thursday, April 29. Tickets are $15 and go on sale Saturday at noon through Live Nation.

The Winter Of Mixed Drinks is the highly anticipated followup to their acclaimed 2008 album The Midnight Organ Fight. The new album was produced by Connecticut native Peter Katis (The National, The Swell Season) at Tarquin Studios in Connecticut along with additional help from Stuart Hamilton at Castlesound Studios in Scotland.

“I feel it’s a classier beast than the ‘Midnight Organ Fight’,” frontman Scott Hutchison told NME Magazine last fall. “We’ve broadened our horizons sonically in parts and it feels like a natural move forward. Most importantly, it’s better than the last one. That’s all I wanted, really.”

Fans can get a taste of the new material on the band’s MySpace where singles “Swim Until You Can’t See Land” and “Nothing Like You” are steaming.
