ZZ Top will hit Connecticut later this year as part of their ongoing summer tour. The legendary classic rockers will perform at the MGM Grand Theatre at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket on Friday, August 28. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $50 to $70, are currently on sale through Ticketmaster.

The band has not released a full length studio album since 2003’s Mescalero besides, though new music has allegedly been recorded with no release date set. Billy Gibbons recently told Billboard.com that the album will be out by the end of the year and that it will include original material, as well as some potential covers.

Gibbons explained that the band’s sound hasn’t changed much since its heyday. “[We are] still just making a lot of loud noise. We still pose as interpreters of the blues. We can’t invent it; it’s already been invented,” he said in the Billboard interview. “But we can do it our way.”

Houstonpress.com
recently reported that a copy of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band’s new work was en route to the International Space Station with astronaut and friend to the band Michael Fossum. When the music will finally land back on Earth remains unknown, but the title of the new song is appropriately titled “Flyin’ High”.

In 2009, ZZ Top released Double Down Live, a two-disc DVD set by that featured  footage from shows in 1980, 2007 and 2008.

Prior to the Connecticut show, ZZ Top will make their way to Gilford, New Hampshire for a show at the Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion on Thursday, August 27.
