Zappa Plays Zappa to play Zeiterion Theatre in July

Dweezil Zappa will return to the road this summer with Zappa Plays Zappa, the premier tribute act to his late father Frank Zappa. Performing all the classics from the legendary guitarist and composer, the group will perform at the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford on Sunday, July 1. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $25 to $72, are now on sale through the venue’s box office and website.

Following the show in Massachusetts, Zappa Plays Zappa will make their way north to New Hampshire for a performance at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom on Friday, July 6. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $36 an $50.

Leading up to the performances, fans can make song requests through the band’s website.

Formed in 2006, Zappa Plays Zappa features Scheila Gonzalez (Saxophone, Flute, Keyboards), Pete Griffin (Bass), Billy Hulting (Percussion), Jamie Kime (Guitar), Ben Thomas (Vocals), Joe Travers (Drums) and Chris Norton (Keyboards).

Dweezil Zappa released Live In The Moment last fall. The double CD is comprised of excerpted guitar solos culled from the last three years on tour with Zappa Plays Zappa.

In 2010, Zappa Plays Zappa released Return Of The Son Of…, a two‚Äźdisc live collection of 14 classic tracks. The group’s self-titled 2008 live album won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
