Young the Giant have revealed plans for a spring tour in support of their brand new album, Mind over Matter. The alt-rock favorites will stop in Boston for a performance at the House of Blues on Sunday, March 2. Tickets for the show, which will also feature opener Vance Joy, are now on sale through Live Nation for $29 and $39.50.

Mind over Matter, Young the Giant’s sophomore release and follow-up to their 2010 self-titled debut album, was released earlier this week. Produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Tegan and Sara, Paramore), it features singles “It’s About Time” and “Crystallized” (streaming below).

“On this record, we had a little bit of writers’ block, because obviously there’s the anticipation of a sophomore record, the expectations, all of that,” said guitarist Jacob Tilley of the recording process in a recent interview with MTV. “All of us wanted to stand behind a record; the last record we all wrote when were 19 or so, and we were kind of being guided through the whole process. This time around, we wanted to tour on something for two or three years on something we all really love.”

Frontman Sameer Gadhia went on to explain the final product. “The first half of the record is very high intensity, even more intense that even we initially anticipated, and the second, there’s a little more time to breathe,” he said. “Being on the road so much most definitely influenced the way we wanted to order the record; just being able to play and have a steady ebb and flow.”

Young The Giant was last in Boston for a surprise intimate show at Berklee’s Cafe 939 in November. The band also performed at the inaugural Boston Calling Festival at City Hall Plaza last May.
