Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss have announced plans for a co-headlining tour this summer with their respective bands. The country and bluegrass legends will make their way to Massachusetts for a performance at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion in Boston on Tuesday, June 17. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $30 to $70, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

The upcoming tour will mark the first time that Willie Nelson and Family have shared the stage together with Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas. Along with the show in Boston, the tour will also make stops in Connecticut (Simsbury Meadows in Simsbury on June 15), Maine (Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor on June 19) and New Hampshire (Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion at Meadowbrook in Gilford on June 20). Making the New England shows extra special will be the addition of rising country star Kacey Musgraves, who will open each of the shows.

At 80-years of age, Nelso remains very active and released a pair of new albums in 2013. To All the Girls…, a collection of duets recorded by Nelson with prominent female country singers, was released in October. Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow, Mavis Staples, Norah Jones, Emmylou Harris, Brandi Carlile and his daughter Paula Nelson are just some of the special guests on the album. Last April, he released Let’s Face the Music and Dance. Recorded at his home studio in Austin, Texas with producer Buddy Cannon, the album features standards that his and his sister Bobbie played during their childhood and throughout their musical career.

Krauss’ last offering of all new material was 2011’s Paper Airplane. The album, her fourteenth studio effort, marked her first with Union Station since 2004’s triple Grammy Award-winning Lonely Runs Both Ways. Union Station is comprised of Dan Tyminski (guitar, mandolin, lead vocals), Barry Bales (bass, harmony vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar, harmony vocals) and Jerry Douglas (Dobro, harmony vocals).

Musgraves continues to tour in support of her debut album, 2013’s Same Trailer Different Park. The album, which she co-produced with Shane McAnally and Luke Laird, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart making her the first solo female in five years to open at #1 with a rookie release and just seventh in the 22-year Nielson SoundScan era. In addition to being named New Artist of the Year at the 2013 CMA Awards, Musgraves recently won two Grammy Awards for Best Country Song (for “Merry Go ‘Round”) and Best Country Album.
