Usher adds Providence show to world tour

Following dates across Europe, Asia and Australia, Usher will return to the United States later this spring as part of a world tour in support of his latest album, Raymond v. Raymond. He’ll may his way back to New England for a show at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island on Wednesday, May 4. Joining him will be special guest Akon. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $27.50 to $97.50, are now on sale through Ticketmaster.

Raymond v. Raymond, Usher’s sixth studio effort, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 afters its release last March. The album has been powered by hit singles “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)”, “Lil Freak”, “There Goes My Baby” and “OMG”. In August, Usher quickly released a follow-up EP, Versus, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200. Most recently, Usher won a pair of Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (“There Goes My Baby”).

R&B Senegalese-American singer and rapper Akon is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming album, Stadium. The album, his fourth studio effort, follows 2008’s Freedom. No release date for the new album has been announced.
