Umphrey’s McGee plan tour, new releases

, Staff

Umphrey’s McGee will soon return to the road for a coast to coast tour that will kick off in Boston at the end of the month. The Chicago-based rockers will launch a 28-date tour at the House of Blues in Boston on Thursday, January 27. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Live Nation for $25 and $35. Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad will open the show.

The tour kick-off in Boston will come just a few days after the band plays their 4th annual destination event, which this year will take place in Mexico. The jam band favorites will play a series of sold-out out shows for their devoted fans at the Mayan Holidaze in Puerto Morelos. Umphrey’s McGee also plan to release a collection of new music in early 2011. In a departure from the standard “album” format, Umphrey’s will instead offer up the highly anticipated new material via a series of digital EPs. To get fans warmed-up, Umphrey’s has released a free MP3 download of the band’s brand new song “Wellwishers”. Fans can download the new song here.

Reggae favorites Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad lunched their live music website this past fall. The site offers the band’s live recordings for purchase and free downloads. LIVE UP!! Volume II is the first release, consisting of ten tracks recorded live during March and April 2010.
