Tool plots return to the road

Tool will return to the road in 2012. The hard rockers will swing through Boston for a show at the TD Garden in Saturday, January 28. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $45 to $75, will go on sale Saturday at noon through Ticketmaster.

It has been almost six years since Tool released their last album, Grammy Award winning 10,000 Days. The band’s fourth studio effort and follow-up to 2001’s Lateralus, is a 75-minute, 11-song prog-metal odyssey. Although Tool members Adam Jones (guitarist), Danny Carey (drummer), Justin Chancellor (bassist) and Maynard James Keenan (vocals) have largely been touring with their side projects, Tool fans should not fret. The band has announced via their newsletter that they are currently working on their fifth studio album, set to be released sometime in 2012.

The Boston show will be the band’s first in Massachusetts since performing at Mansfield’s Comcast Center in July 2007. In August 2009, Tool performed at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Following the show in Boston, Tool will perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Tuesday, January 31. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $49 and $69.
