Timeflies to launch fall tour in Boston

Timeflies have revealed plans for a fall tour that will begin with their biggest show in Boston to date. The electro/hip-hop duo who formed at Tufts University will return to Massachusetts and tackle the Agganis Arena on Wednesday, October 9 as the opening night for their “Warning Signs” tour. Tickets for the show, which will also feature special guest Chiddy Bang, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

Now based in Brooklyn, producer Rob Resnick (Res) and vocalist Cal Shapiro are gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album and follow-up to 2011’s The Scotch Tape. Fans can get a taste of the new material with lead single “I Choose U”, which is streaming below. No release date has been announced for the yet-to-be-named album, which will be released through their newly formed label imprint, forty8fifty/Island. Last November, Timeflies released an EP called One Night, which reached #2 on the overall iTunes chart and #1 on the iTunes Pop chart shortly after its release.

In an interview with VH1 earlier this year, Res took time to describe the new material. “We have a Timeflies sound and it’s going to be a continuation of that,” he said. “On the one side it’s really great that music on it’s own is going towards EDM, so we’re going to get to be a part of that and we’re going to get to push some of that sound-wise. On the other side, unlike the EP where we had six-song limit, we’re going to be able to do more of the artsy, avant-garde stuff that I think both of us are really excited to get back to. And then I think you can expect some classic Timeflies, banger, melt-your-face stuff.”
