The xx have revealed plans for the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, Coexist. The band will preview the new album while on a stateside tour that will include a stop at Boston’s Wilbur Theatre on Tuesday, July 31. Tickets for the show are on sale now through Ticketmaster for $35.

“After a long time on the road, we took a break, created our own studio and wrote these songs that we’re so looking forward to playing to you,” the band declared in an announcement for Coexsist.

The band’s follow-up to their self-titled 2009 debut will hit stores on September 10. In a recent interview with NME, singer and guitarist Romy Madley Croft said Coexist will demonstrate the band’s evolution since their Mercury Award-winning debut album. “I hope people enjoy it as a separate thing,” she said. “The first album exists – we’re not trying to make it again.”

Croft also told NME that the album name references, “lost love – from exes or the person you’re with now”. She described the songs as, “still personal, but I’ve been a bit more inspired by things that have happened to other people and putting myself in their shoes. But they’re all love songs and some of them are sadder than others.”
