The Weepies have announced plans for a special acoustic tour of the United States this summer. The Massachusetts natives will return to Boston for a gig at the Wilbur Theatre on Thursday, September 1. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $27.50.

The indie pop-folk duo of singer-songwriters Deb Talan and Steve Tannen continue tour in support of their latest release, 2010’s Be My Thrill. The album, their fourth studio effort, debuted at #3 on the Billboard Folk Chart.

“This is the most fun we’ve had making a record,” Talan said in a press release. “We took as much time as we needed at every step and taking that pressure off made the whole thing a little light.”

The upcoming acoustic tour is designed to deliver more intimate shows for fans after their sold-out 2010 tour. Jonny Flower will accompany Talan and Tannen on bass for the tour.

Although not featured on Be My Thrill, The Weepies’ latest song “Same Changes” was used in the 2010 film “Morning Glory”.
