The Pogues plan stateside St. Patrick’s Day tour
The Pogues have revealed plans to return to the United States for St. Patrick’s Day tour celebration. The legendary Irish punk rockers will make their way to Massachusetts for a pair of shows at Boston’s House of Blues on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12. Tickets for each show are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $51 and $75.
Formed in 1982, The Pogues scored a string of hit albums combining traditional Irish folk with a punk spirit, embodied by their notorious frontman Shane MacGowan. MacGowan quit the group in 1991 and while the rest of the group carried on briefly, (with ex-Clash man Joe Strummer occasionally providing vocals) they eventually disbanded in 1995. They reunited with MacGowan in 2001 for a UK tour and headlined the London Fleadh the following year. Following this success the band embarked on regular worldwide tours selling out venues across the globe.
The Pogues will soon embark on what they calling their final Christmastime tour of the UK soon.
