Following a series of intimate sold-out club shows in Los Angeles and New York, as well as a sold-out UK/European tour, the Pixies have announced plans for a coast-to-coast North American tour in early 2014. The Massachusetts-bred indie rock heroes will return to the Hub for a show at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre on Saturday, January 18. Tickets for the concert, which range in price from $45 to $65, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation. Fidler will open the show.

Last month, the Pixies released their first collection of new music in more than 20 years, EP-1. Comprised of four brand new songs, it follows the surprise release of a new single called “Bagboy” at the end of June. Produced by Gil Norton, who the band worked with for three of their first five albums including their seminal 1989 release Doolittle, EP-1 is the first in the series of EPs the band is expected to release. The video for lead single “Andro Queen” is streaming below.

The Pixies are comprised of lead singer/guitarist Black Francis, guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer David Lovering, along with touring bassist Kim Shattuck who took over for founding member Kim Deal earlier this year.

The band is promising a brand new stage set and production for the upcoming tour which will mix in some of the new songs with old classics.

“I’m happy that we have new songs to play because playing only the old songs…you’ve already proven that,” explained Black Francis in a recent wide-ranging interview with The Daily Beast. “You can try to do it better, but you’re not really proving anything to anyone except that you can still do it.”

Along with the show in Boston, Pixies fans in New England can see the band perform at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut on January 22.
