To celebrate their 45th anniversary, The Monkees will embark on their first tour in a decade this summer. Original members Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork will hit more than 30 cities, including Lowell, Massachusetts. The legendary group will play the Lowell Memorial Auditorium on Wednesday, June 15. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $39 to $119, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through the venue’s box office and website.

“We need to share this music once again as people want to hear music from times that made them happy,” said Jones in a press release. “The records are being played all the time. And, the fans are still there… So, we’re going to do it.” Micky Dolenz added, “I’m looking forward to getting back together with my old buddies for some good ol’ rock and roll.” Peter Tork concluded, “Each one of the tours we do is more fun than the one before.”

On their 45th Anniversary Tour, The Monkees are promising audiences a “full multimedia experience celebrating nearly a half-century of the band’s legacy”. Fans can expect to hear all of the groups mega-hits including “I’m a Believer”, “Daydream Believer,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday” and, for the first time ever onstage, songs from their classic albums and rarely heard selections from their cult classic movie, “Head”. In addition, songs and videos will be broadcast throughout the venue to provide a soundtrack before and after the main show, featuring Monkees rarities as well as covers by past and present artists they’ve influenced over their long career.

Prior to the show in Massachusetts, The Monkees will perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday, June 10. Tickets for the show are $30 and will go on sale next Friday, March 11 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1966, The Monkees debuted on television screens with their eponymous NBC series and #1 hit single “Last Train to Clarksville”. The show was a smash success over its two-season run, winning two Emmy Awards. Their musical accomplishments were just as impressive, as The Monkees scored a dozen Billboard Top 40 hits including Top 10 hits in more than 25 countries. The Monkees are also the only artists ever to have four #1 albums in the same year. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the band’s original members have reformed for albums of new material as well as anniversary tours and TV specials.
