Mighty Mighty Bosstones to play Hampton Beach
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have revealed plans to return to the road for a “Summer Vacation” tour in support of their latest album, The Magic of Youth. The Boston legends will return to New England for a show at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in New Hampshire on Friday, August 3. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $29.
The Magic of Youth, the band’s ninth studio effort, was released last December. The album was produced by Tedd Hutt, who worked on the band’s last release, 2009′s Pinpoints And Gin Joints. The video for “The Daylights” is streaming below.
In an interview with Jaded In Chicago last December, frontman Dicky Barrett described the theme of the new album. “I think it’s all kind of right this very minute, as far as how we are, who we are and what we are in this time,” he said. “I was thinking about this earlier and I don’t think we could have made this record five or so years ago. Since I’ve been working at the Jimmy Kimmel Live show, I’ve been working with a lot of really young and talented people, the writers, and Jimmy himself is a really, really smart guy. I think it’s recharged my batteries. I don’t think I could have been as creative lyrically otherwise. It’s not like I’m writing stuff about the TV show, but what it did was creatively allowed me to write better and reach deeper inside myself. Thematically, the lyrics of the record are just right this very minute and deal with the excitement that we have for our band right now.”
Along with brief tour of the United States, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have revealed plans to return to Australia for the first time in over 10 years for one show in Sydney in July. The band will also make their first appearance in Jakarta, Indonesia at the Java Rockin’land Festival.
Most recently, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones performed three consecutive nights at Boston’s House of Blues as part of their 14th Hometown Throwdown. Last September, the band also played two sold out shows at historic Fenway Park with Dropkick Murphys.
