Rhode Island has a brand new premier rock club with the opening of The Met in Pawtucket. Owned by the same group of owners at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in downtown Providence, the new club is located in Hope Artiste Village on Main street and has a capacity of roughly 600 people.

The Met opened last week and has lined up an extensive schedule of shows through the fall across a wide variety of genres. “The Met is the mid-sized room Rhode Island has been missing for some time,” said the club’s booking agent Jack Reich in a statement.

Highlighting the list of band’s scheduled to play The Met are Mates of State (Monday, September 27), Ra Ra Riot (Wednesday, September 29), Built To Spill (Saturday, October 2), Fountains of Wayne (Wednesday, October 13) and The Hold Steady (Sunday, October 24). The Met will also feature a host of local and regional artists including a special two night reunion show with  Pawtucket’s own The Wild Turkey Band and Hometown Rockers, who have not performed in more than 20 years,

The Met will serve food with its kitchen set to open next week for lunches and late night eats. The club will also offer free parking across three parking lots.

Meanwhile, Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel will continue at its current location and is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year,
