Bon Jovi has a strong history of big name openers for their stadium shows and their show this summer at Gillette Stadium will be no different. Hometown favorites The J. Geils Band have been added as special guests for the show in Foxboro on Saturday, July 20. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $19.50 to $129.50, are available through Ticketmaster.

Along with the Foxboro show, The J. Geils Band will join Bon Jovi at Chicago’s Soldier Field on July 12 and Detroit’s Ford Field on July 18.

The J. Geils Band, who reunited in 2009 for the first time in over a decade to open the House of Blues in Boston, have performed several shows in New England over the past few years. Last year, the band’s namesake and original guitarist Jay Geils did not participate due to a legal dispute between he, his record label (Francesca Records), and the band over the “ownership and control of the rights to the name ‘J. Geils Band'”. The J. Geils Band currently features original members Peter Wolf (lead vocals), Seth Justman (keyboards), Danny Klein (bass) and Magic Dick (harmonica), alongside longtime associates Duke Levine (guitar) and Tom Arey (drums).

Bon Jovi will be touring in support of their brand new album, What About Now. The band’s twelfth studio effort and follow-up to 2009’s The Circle, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 after its release last month. It also topped the charts in five other countries and the top ten in another seventeen. Produced by Grammy Award–winner John Shanks, the album features singles “Because We Can” and “What About Now”.
