There may be no plans to record together but the J. Geils Band are staying active on the touring front. The legendary Boston rockers are back on the road this year and have announced plans for a show in Connecticut. The band will perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville on Sunday, September 16. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $30.

The tour will feature original members Peter Wolf (lead vocals), Seth Justman (keyboards), Danny Klein (bass) and Magic Dick (harmonica), alongside longtime associates Duke Levine (guitar) and Tom Arey (drums). The band’s namesake and original guitarist Jay Geils will not participate. According to a press release announcing the tour, Geils will not join the band due to an ongoing legal dispute between he, his record label (Francesca Records), and the band over the “ownership and control of the rights to the name ‘J. Geils Band.'”

The band, with Geils,  reunited for their first performance together in over a decade to celebrate the grand opening of the House of Blues on Lansdowne Street in February of 2009. They went on to play handful of shows in 2009 including a New Year’s Eve gig at the Mohegan Sun Arena before joining forces again 2010 (including one night at Fenway Park with Aerosmith) and 2011 (including two nights at the Bank of America Pavilion.

Much like these recent reunions, fans can expect to hear a set of greatest hits including “Centerfold”, “Give It to Me”, “Love Stinks” and “Ain’t Nothin’ But a House Party”.

The J. Geils Band have not released a new studio album with Wolf since 1981’s Freeze Frame. In 2006, they released a greatest hits compilation called Best of The J. Geils Band.
