The Gaslight Anthem plan Providence show

The Gaslight Anthem have revealed plans for a spring tour in support of their latest album, Handwritten. The New Jersey-based rockers will visit Rhode Island for a performance at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence on Saturday, June 8. Tickets for the show, which will also feature opener Tift Merritt, will go on sale Friday at noon through eTix for $23 and $35.

Handwritten, The Gaslight Anthem’s, fourth studio effort and follow-up to 2010’s American Slang, debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 and atop Billboard’s Alternative Albums and Rock Albums chart after its release in July of 2012. Recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee with Grammy Award-winning producer Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam), the album features singles “45” and “Here Comes My Man” (video streaming below).

Recently, the band released a 15-minute short film titled “Every Word Handwritten”. The film, co-written and produced by drummer Benny Horowitz, chronicles the the lifespan of one vinyl record and the impact it has on those who own it. For more on the film, see this story on Rolling Stone.
