The Flaming Lips map summer tour

The Flaming Lips have revealed plans to return to the road this summer. The Oklahaman ambassadors will rock Boston’s Bank of America Pavilion on Wednesday, July 27. Tickets for the show, which range from in price from $25 to $45, will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

The Lips are back with their latest musical experiment, titled Two Blobs Fucking, which is comprised of 12 individual tracks that create one complete song. The digital-only release is available through the band’s official website. It’s the first release of new material since 2009’s Embryonic. Last year, the paid tribute to Pink Floyd with The Flaming Lips & Stardeath And White Dwarfs With Henry Rollins And Peaches Doing The Dark Side Of The Moon.

As interesting as their musical excursions have been, The Flaming Lips are best known for their notoriously unpredictable live shows. This will be the band’s first show in New England since headlining at the Nateva Music & Camping Festival last summer. They last played Boston in 2009 at the Pavilion.

In related news, The Flaming Lips will release a five-vinyl-disc Box Set collection called Heady Nuggs: The First 5 Warner Bros. Records 1992-2002 on Saturday in celebration of Record Store Day.
