The Cult will hit the road this summer in support of their forthcoming album, Choice of Weapon. Joined by special guests Against Me!, the English rockers will play the House of Blues in Boston on Tuesday, June 5. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation for $27 and $40. The Icarus Line will open he show.

“This is going to be a very intense, high-energy tour,” declared vocalist Ian Astbury in a press release. “We are really looking forward to the time we spent on stage connected to our music and our audience. That’s our purpose.”

Choice of Weapon
, The Cult’s ninth studio album and first in five years, will be released on May 22. The band recorded the album with co-producers Chris Goss and Bob Rock in new York and California. It’s being described as an album that discusses “survival in today’s volatile world where the sense of entitlement is growing” and a throwback to the sound of the band’s earlier albums.

“When we were writing and recording Choice of Weapon, we had no agenda, there was no particular destination, no place to be, and no chart to aim for,” explained Astbury. “We took our time, we went in, we grabbed the jewels, and stayed focused on keeping everything as fresh and raw as possible. The new songs are a sharpened and heightened extension of everything we have ever done.”

Against Me! is currently in the studio and working on their sixth studio album. The band’s last studio release was 2010’s White Crosses. Produced by Butch Vig (Green Day, Foo Fighters), it featured singles “I Was a Teenage Anarchist” and “High Pressure Low”.
