The Civil Wars to play Boston in October

After a breakthrough performance at the Newport Folk Festival, The Civil Wars have announced plans to return to New England on their own headlining tour. The duo of Joy Williams and John Paul White will hit Boston for a show at the Berklee Performance Center on Friday, October 28. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $20. Milo Greene will open the show.

The Nashville-based duo are touring in support of their debut album Barton Hollow. Since its release in February, the album has charted at #12 on the US Billboard 200, #1 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart, #2 on the Billboard Folk Albums chart and #3 on the Billboard Rock Albums chart. Barton Hollow was produced by Grammy Award-winner Charlie Peacock (Switchfoot, Ay Grant)

The Civil Wars have received a pair of nominations for this year’s Americana Music Awards. Not only are the up for “New/Emerging Artist” but they are nominate for “Duo/Group of the Year” alongside The Avett Brothers, Mumford and Sons, and Robert Plant and the Band of Joy. The winners will be announced in October.

Next month, The Civil Wars will tour Ireland and the United Kingdom supporting Adele. “They are by far the best live band I have ever seen,” wrote Adele on her blog. “They are magical and stunning, they make my heart hurt but make it a bit stronger at the same time too! Perfect timing! Please check them out, their record is beautiful. And if your coming to any of the shows on this trip make sure you get there early to see them. I’ve never been so blown away.”

The October show will be The Civil Wars second time on the campus of Berklee College of Music this year. In February, they performed at Cafe 939.
