After rocking a sold out show at the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford earlier this week, the Tedeschi Trucks Band have announced plans for a return visit to Massachusetts later this year. The band will rock Boston with back-to-back shows at the House of Blues on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13. Tickets for each of the performances, which range in price from $45 to $85, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

Led by husband/wife duo Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, the 11-piece band continues to tour in support of their second studio effort, Made Up Mind. Produced by Jim Scott and Trucks, the band’s follow-up to their 2011 debut Revelator was recorded at Tedeschi and Trucks’ home studio – “Swamp Raga Studios” in Jacksonville, Florida. It debuted at #11 on the Billboard 200, as well as #1 on the Top Blues Albums and #4 on the Top Rock Albums charts, after its release last August. The title track is streaming below.

“Once we were in the studio the songs were already written, mostly with friends of ours,” said Trucks of the recording process in a press release. “Sometimes you’d show up with an idea, sometimes you’d show up with nothing and you pull it out of the air. Then we went in and we listened to all the stuff we had written and whatever we felt like playing that day is what we would track. A lot of times the demos were just rough sketches and you let the band unleash on them and it would come together really quickly. It was a matter of playing it a few times; everyone would listen and everyone would have a pretty good idea of what they would want to do and then usually the next take or two would be the record.”

Last month, Tedeschi Trucks Band won three awards at The Blues Foundation’s 35th Annual Blues Music Awards, including “Rock Blues Album of the Year” for Made Up Mind. For the third year in a row, the band was named Best Band, while Tedeschi was named Best Contemporary Blues Female Artist for the fourth time in her career.

Earlier this year, Trucks announced he would be departing The Allman Brothers Band at year’s end.

Tedeschi Trucks Band is comprised of Tedeschi (guitar, vocals), Trucks (guitar), Kofi Burbridge (keyboards, flute), Tyler Greenwell (drums), J.J. Johnson (drums), Mike Mattison (vocals), Mark Rivers (vocals), Kebbi Williams (saxophone), Maurice Brown (trumpet), Saunders Sermons (trombone, vocals) and their most recent addition Tim Lefebvre (bass).
