TargetCancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising research funding and creating awareness for rare and lesser known cancers, will host its 1st annual fundraiser on Friday night. The event will include performances from Palmdale featuring Kay Hanley of Letters to Cleo and Linus of Hollywood, Will Dailey & The Rivals and Mike Gent of The Figgs.

The fundraiser will take place at the Artists For Humanity EpiCenter, located at 100 West 2nd Street in Boston. Tickets for the concert are available for $20 at the door or in advance through www.targetcancer.info. For $125, attendees can join in the special pre-show cocktail party and silent auction featuring music and sports memorabilia, vacation getaways and more.. 100% of the proceeds from the event will support TargetCancer.

Launched in 2009 by Cambridge resident Paul Poth, TargetCancer promotes the development of lifesaving treatment protocols for uncommon cancers. Through fundraising, outreach, and advocacy, TargetCancer supports cancer patients while also funding research initiatives at the forefront of cancer treatment – efforts that treat the individual as well as the disease.

In February 2010, TargetCancer launched ‘The Right Track: Tunes To TargetCancer,’ a series of concerts, events, and music download opportunities that represent the intersection of Poth’s two passions: his love of music, and his desire to make positive change in the world of cancer treatment. An upcoming release of new music will coincide with the Friday’s fundraiser. The initial download series featured exclusive, new and unreleased music from Weezer, Ween, The Donnas, Cowboy Junkies, Dean & Britta, Buffalo Tom, Linda Thompson, Drug Rug and others. Tracks continue to be added to these exclusive pay-what-you-wish downloads. For more information or to purchase tracks, please visit www.righttracktunes.org
