Switchfoot have revealed plans for a fall tour in support of their forthcoming studio album and documentary, both titled Fading West. The California-bred rockers will travel east and stop in Massachusetts for a performance at Boston’s Wilbur Theatre on Tuesday, October 8. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $25 and $31.50.

For the upcoming tour, Switchfoot is promising an intimate “Storytellers-style” performance. With no openers, the band’s live set will be preceded by a screening of the 80-minute “Fading West” film. For a preview of the film, check out the trailer below.

Fading West, Switchfoot’s ninth studio effort and follow-up to 2011’s Vice Verses, is expected to hit stores in October. No official release date has been set.

Inspired by such films as “Rattle and Hum” and “Endless Summer”, the “Fading West” film follows Switchfoot as they travel the globe in search of new musical inspiration and perfect waves. Directed by Matt Katsolis and filmed during Switchfoot’s 2012 World Tour, the film is described in a press release as “part rock documentary, part surf film and part travelogue”. The film also captures the beginning stages of the band’s work on Fading West and while not a direct soundtrack, tracks from the new album can be heard throughout the film.
