Switchfoot set plans for spring tour

Switchfoot have revealed plans for a spring tour in support of their new album, Fading West. The California-bred rockers will travel east and stop in New England for several shows, including one at Boston’s Royale on Saturday, March 22. Tickets for the show will go on sale Monday at noon through Ticketmaster for $25.

Fading West, Switchfoot’s ninth studio effort, will be released on January 14. Fans can get a taste of the new material with singles “Who We Are” and “Love Alone Is Worth the Fight” (streaming below). Produced by the band in collaboration with Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard), the album was ultimately born on the road and in the waves. While touring in support of 2011’s Vice Verses, the longtime surfers set out in search of songwriting inspiration by visiting several of their favorite surf breaks around the world.

“The idea was to surf, write songs, play music, and see what ideas came,” explained bassist Tim Foreman in a press release.

The band traveled to Jeffreys Bay and Crayfish Factory in South Africa, Bronte Beach in Australia, Raglan in New Zealand, and Uluwatu in Bali, and filmed the process along the way. The footage ultimately made up a documentary film titled “Fading West”, which is now available digitally.

Along with the show in Boston, Switchfoot will perform at Fete in Providence, Rhode Island on Friday, March 28. Tickets for the show will go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. through TicketWeb for $23.50. They’ll also hit Killington, Vermont for a show at the Pickle Barrel on March 23.

Switchfoot previewed Fading West on special tour this past fall. The band screened the film and then performed a live set. In, their performance turned acoustic when the power at the Wilbur Theatre went out. Check out our review of the show, here.
