Sufjan Stevens adds second Boston show to fall tour

After quietly announcing and quickly selling out a show at the Orpheum Theatre, Sufjan Stevens has added a second Boston show to his fall tour. Stevens will now play Boston on Thursday, November 11 and Friday, November 12. Tickets for the second show, which will be priced at $35, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

The tour will feature experimental songs that were first performed during his 2009 tour of smaller clubs. Stevens will perform with a large ensemble backed by a full production including projections.

Stevens has released eight studio recordings since 2000. His latest, an EP called All Delighted People, was released exclusively online last week by Asthmatic Kitty Records. All Delighted People is built around two different versions of Sufjan’s long-form epic ballad “All Delighted People,” described on the album’s official website as “a dramatic homage to the Apocalypse, existential ennui, and Paul Simon’s ‘Sounds of Silence'”. Other songs on the EP include the 17-minute guitar jam “Djohariah” and the piano ballad “The Owl and the Tanager”.
