Music Circus & Melody Tent reveal first set of shows

Organizers for the summer concert season at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset and the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis have revealed the first set of artists scheduled to perform at the summer hotspots. Martina McBride, Straight No Chaser, Trace Adkins and Little Big Town highlight the list of artists set to make stops at both venues, while Huey Lewis & The News is on tap for the Music Circus and Scotty McCreery for the Melody Tent.McBride’s summer tour will hit Massachusetts for shows at the Music Circus on Friday, July 11 and the Melody Tent on Saturday, July 12. The veteran country singer will be touring in support of her forthcoming album, Everlasting. Scheduled to hit stores on April 8, her twelfth studio effort features covers of soul and R&B songs and includes duets with Gavin DeGraw and Kelly Clarkson. Tickets for each of the shows are now on sale through eTix for $70.50 and $90.50 ($64.50 and $84.50 for club members).

Straight No Chaser’s summer schedule includes stops in Hyannis on Friday, July 11 and Cohasset on Saturday, July 12. The a cappella stars continue to tour in support of 2013’s Under the Influence. The album featured a plethora of special guests including Sara Bareilles, Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Jason Mraz. Tickets for each of the shows are now on sale through eTix for $41.25 and $61.25 ($35.25 and $55.25 for club members).

Returning to the road to promote his latest studio release Love Will…, Adkins will perform at the Music Circus on Saturday, August 2 before hitting the Melody Tent on Sunday, August 3. Released in May of 2013, the album debuted at #14 on the Billboard 200 and at #6 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. It features collaborations with Colbie Caillat, Exile and the Harlem Gospel Choir. Tickets for each of the shows are now on sale through eTix for $46 and $66 ($40 and $60 for club members).

With a new album in the works, Little Big Town have made plans for a summer headlining tour that stops in Hyannis on Thursday, August 14 and in Cohasset on Friday, August 15. The band is currently writing and recording material for their sixth studio effort and follow-up to 2012’s Tornado, which featured singles “Pontoon”, “Tornado”, “Your Side of the Bed” and “Sober”. Tickets for each of the shows are now on sale through eTix for $47 and $67 ($41 and $61 for club members).

Perennial summertime favorite Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will once again perform at each of the venues with concerts scheduled for the Melody Tent on Friday, July 25 and the Music Circus on Sunday, July 27. Tickets for each of the shows are now on sale through eTix for $67.50 and $87.50 ($61.50 and $81.50 for club members).

Rounding out the lineup of announced performers at the South Shore Music Circus is Huey Lewis & The News, who will perform in Cohasset on Sunday, July 13. last year, the 80’s favorites celebrated the 30th anniversary of their acclaimed album Sports with a special re-issue and tour. Their last studio release was 2010’s Soulsville. Tickets for the show are available through eTix for $55.50 and $75.50 ($49.50 and $69.50 for club members).

Down in Hyannis, the Melody Tent will host Scotty McCreery on Friday, August 1. The country favorite and winner of American Idol Season 10 is touring in support of his new album, See You Tonight. Released in October, the singer’s second studio effort and follow-up to his 2011 debut Clear as Day, debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200. Produced by Frank Rogers (Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker), its title track also serves as the lead single. Tickets for the show are available through eTix for $44.50 and $65.50 ($39.50 and $59.50 for club members).

Rounding out the lineup of announced performers at the Cape Cod Melody Tent are return visits from jazz trumpeter Chris Botti on Saturday, August 9 ($43.50 and $63.50 for the general public or $37.50 and $57.50 for club members) and a co-headlining show from The Temptations and The Four Tops on Saturday, August 2 ($46 and $66 for the general public or $40 and $60 for for club members).

More concerts, as well as a variety of children’s entertainment and comedy shows, will be added to both venues over the next couple of months. The South Shore Music Circus and the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis are both operated by South Shore Playhouse Associates (SSPA), a not-for-profit organization that supports arts and education in southeastern Massachusetts.

  1. At the South Shore Music Circus we’re also welcoming The Fab Four – the Ultimate Beatles Tribute back on July 19th. The Fab Four will be at the Melody Tent on July 20th.
