South Shore Music Circus adds country favorites

The summer concert season at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset continues to take shape with the recent additions of several country music favorites. Justin Moore, Vince Gill and Scotty McCreery will deliver performances under the tent, as will veteran singer-songwriter Amy Grant and Canadian singing sensations The Tenors.

With a new album on the way, Justin Moore will embark on a headlining tour that stops in Massachusetts for the first show of the season at the Music Circus on Thursday, June 13. Though no release date for the country singer’s third album have been released fans can get a taste of the new material with the recently released single “Point at You”. Moore’s last studio album was 2011’s Outlaws Like Me, which produced a pair of #1 hits in “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” and  “Til My Last Day”. Tickets for the show are available through eTix for $36.75 and $56.75.

Vince Gill, who recently performed with at Symphony Hall as part of the Boston Pop’s opening night, will return to Massachusetts for a performance in Cohasset on Saturday, August 10. The veteran country singer and acclaimed guitarist has been busy working on new material, including a duets album and bluegrass project. His last studio release was 2011’s Guitar Slinger. He’s also been active with the Nashville-based group The Time Jumpers, who earned a pair of Grammy nominations for their 2012 self-titled album. Tickets for the show are available through eTix for $46.75 and $56.75.

Scotty McCreery’s “Weekend Roadtrip” summer tour includes a stop at the Music Circus on Sunday, August 11. The American Idol Season 10 winner is working on his sophomore album for release later this year. Fans can get a taste of the new material with the recently released single “See You Tonight”. His 2011 debut album Clear as Day featured singles “I Love You This Big”, “The Trouble with Girls” and “Water Tower Town”. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through eTix for $48 and $68.

The Tenors’ summer outing includes a performance in Cohasset on Saturday, August 24. The acclaimed Canadian singing group will be touring in support of their latest album, Lead With Your Heart. Released in October, the group’s third studio effort won the Juno Award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through eTix for $48.75.

Amy Grant, wife of Gill, will also perform at the Music Circus with a show scheduled for Sunday, August 25. The acclaimed country singer will be touring in support of her brand album, How Mercy Looks from Here. Released earlier this week, it marks her first full length release in ten years. Produced by Marshall Altman (Natasha Bedingfield, Matt Nathanson), the album features an array of special guests including Gill, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Carole King, Will Hoge and Eric Paslay. Lead single “Don’t Try so Hard” features James Taylor. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through eTix for $39.25 and $59.25.

The South Shore Music Circus and its sister venue, the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis, are both operated by South Shore Playhouse Associates (SSPA), a not-for-profit organization that supports arts and education in southeastern Massachusetts. Every seat for both venues is within 50 feet of the stage.
