Soulive have canceled this weekend’s Royal Family Beach Ball, which was scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday Nectar’s on Martha’s Vineyard. With Hurricane Earl on it’s way to the island, the band has decided to postpone the event until next summer. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

In a message on the band’s official website, the band said, “We felt it better to make this call now, so those of you planing on attending could still make the best of your holiday weekend and not get stuck with a canceled ferry [Friday] or Saturday morning.”

The “Beach Ball” was scheduled to be a two-night event that brought together Soulive, the Shady Horns (Sam Kinninger, Ryan Zoidis) and Nigel Hall to the intimate confines of Nectar’s. Both nights would have featured separate themed sets with Friday celebrating the music of James Brown and Saturday highlighting music from Soulive’s Beatle Tribute album RubberSoulive. The band was also planning on hosting an afternoon BBQ with fans on Saturday.
