Shovels & Rope to hit the road for Swimmin’ Time

With a new album on the way, Shovels & Rope have announced plans for a fall tour that will include an extended stay in Massachusetts. The folk duo from South Carolina will perform consecutive nights at The Sinclair in Cambridge with back-to-back shows scheduled for the Harvard Square hotspot on Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27. Tickets for each of the shows, which will also feature opener John Fullbright, are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $20.

Shovels & Rope will be touring in support of their forthcoming album, Swimmin’ Time. The husband and wife duo of Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent’s sophomore studio effort and follow-up to their 2012 debut album O’ Be Joyful will hit stores on August 26. Produced by Trent, the new album was recorded in their Charleston, South Carolina home studio. Fans can get a taste of the 13-track release with lead single “The Devil Is All Around”, which is streaming below.

Last year, Shovels & Rope won a pair of Americana Music Awards: Emerging Artist of the Year and Song of the Year (“Birmingham”).
