Shinedown have added a pair of New England concerts to their ongoing spring tour. Joined by special guests Bush, the band will hit Massachusetts and Connecticut in May.

The hard rock favorites will first stop at the MassMutual Center in Springfield on Wednesday, May 1. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $23 and $37. The tour will then hit Uncasville, Connecticut for a night at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, May 3. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $35. Airbourne will open both New England concerts.

Shinedown continues to tour in support of 2012’s Amaryllis. The band’s fourth studio album, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200, features hit singles “Bully” and “Unity”. Produced by Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), the album expands Shinedown’s hard rock sound by adding synths, a 27-piece orchestra and a 10-piece horn section to different songs. Last fall, frontman Brent Smith told NME that they already recorded new material for a follow-up to Amaryllis.

Smith and guitarist Zach Myers just announced that they will soon hit the studio to record ten cover songs. The band are asking fans to submit ideas for what songs to cover through their official Facebook page. The acoustic tracks will be released “in the not too distant future” over a ten day period.

Led by frontman Gavin Rossdale, Bush returned in 2010 with original drummer Robin Goodridge and new members Chris Traynor and Corey Britz, who replaced Nigel Pulsford and Dave Parsons on guitar and bass respectively. In 2011, the band released their fifth studio album The Sea of Memories. Produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith), it features singles “The Sound of Winter” and “Baby Come Home”. Earlier this month, Bush released a Live!, a brand new DVD and Blu-Ray set. The film captures the band’s performance at the Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon in the fall of 2011.
