Scott Weiland to play free show at Mohegan Sun

, Staff

Scott Weiland will make his way to New England next month as part of just a handful of summer shows the Stone Temple Pilots founding frontman has scheduled. Backed by his band The Wildabouts, Weiland will deliver a free performance at Mohegan Sun Casino’s Wolf Den in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday, August 29.

Weiland and The Wildabouts are reportedly working on material for a new studio album, though no official release date has been announced. It will be his third solo studio effort and first since 2008’s Happy in Galoshes. Weiland has stressed that the new album has been more of a full band effort by writing the new material, which will be more rock focused, together. Last year, Weiland embarked on the “Purple at the Core” tour, where he and The Wildabouts, will deliver selections from Stone Temple Pilots biggest albums, 1992’s Core and 1994’s Purple.
