Saw Doctors’ Leo Moran & Anthony Thistlethwaite plan tour
With the Saw Doctors on an extended break, singer-guitarist Leo Moran and bassist Anthony Thistlethwaite have revealed plans to team up for an acoustic tour of the United States this fall. Among the many shows scheduled throughout New England this fall, the duo will stop in Somerville’s Davis Square for a pair of intimate performances at The Burren on Thursday, October 17. Tickets for each of the shows, which are scheduled for 7:30 and 9:30, are available through BrownPaperTickets for $25.
On the upcoming tour, fans can expect the duo to perform stripped down acoustic renditions of Saw Doctors favorites and lesser-known/less-played songs from throughout the band’s catalogue, as well selections from Thistlethwaite’s solo releases and possibly even a few songs written recently with Padraig Stevens.
The tour will launch in Massachusetts with a performance at the Palmer Cultural Center in Three Rivers on September 20. Moran and Thistlethwaite will also perform at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River on October 10, the Cape Cod Irish Village in South Yarmouth on October 13.
“It’s all new and fresh and challenging and scary and exciting at the same time so let’s see what happens,” the duo said in a press release.
Earlier this year after returning from a month-long tour of the United States and Canada, the Saw Doctors announced they would be taking a break from performing live gigs for the rest of the year. With the band on sabbatical, Moran and Thistlethwaite have also been busy with their other side-project The Cabin Collective. The group, which also features Saw Doctors drummer Rickie O’Neill, have performed a handful of shows in Ireland and recently released their debut single “Lines Are Fading”.
