Rodney Crowell announces new album, tour

Rodney Crowell has revealed plans for a spring tour in support of his forthcoming album, Tarpaper Sky. The veteran singer-songwriter will make his way to New England for a series of shows, including two in Massachusetts.

Crowell will prform at The Sinclair in Cambridge on Wednesday, May 7. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at noon through Ticketmaster for $29. The following night, Crowell will peform at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River. Tickets for the show are available through the venue’s box office and website for $30. Steuart Smith & Friends and Shannon McNally will also perform at each of the shows.

Tarpaper Sky will be released on April 15. The self-produced album comes fast on the heels of Old Yellow Moon, his 2013 collaboration with Emmylou Harris, which won this year’s Grammy Award for “Best Americana Album”. The new album, which according to a press release announcing the release “harkens back to some of his most revered and loved works”, reunites Crowell with his late 80’s musical accomplice Steuart Smith.

Along with the shows in Massachusetts, Crowell will also make stops in New Hampshire (The Flying Monkey Performing Arts Center in Plymouth on May 9) and Maine (The Opera House in Boothbay Harbor on May 10).
