, Staff

The Rock The Bells festival will return for its eighth edition this year. The touring festival will only take place in four cities, including Mansfield’s Comcast Center on Saturday, September 10. Leading the way will be headliners Ms. Lauryn Hill, Nas, Cypress Hill and Erykah Badu. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $50.50 to $126, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

This year’s festival will feature an array of seminal and up-and-coming hip-hop artists including a number of artists performing their classic albums, a tradition started last year. Hill will perform her landmark, multi-Grammy award winning album The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, while Nas will deliver his breakthrough album Illmatic with special guests AZ, Pete Rock and DJ Premier. Full album sets can also be expected from: Cypress Hill performing their 1993 album Black Sunday, Erykah Badu performing her 1997 debut album Baduizm, Common performing 2005’s Be, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star performing their 1998 self-titled release, Raekwon and Ghostface teaming up for 1995’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and more.

In total, over 25 artists will perform across three stages: the main stage, the “Paid Dues” stage (featuring independent hip-hop acts) and the new RZA-curated “36 Chambers” stage (primarily featuring members of the Wu-Tang Clan). The festival will be hosted by RZA, MURS 3:16, Supernatural and Boy Jones. The complete Rock the Bells festival lineup for Massachusetts is available below.

“I am excited that this year’s Rock The Bells will continue its rich history and tradition by presenting the best and most ambitious festival programming in Hip Hop,” said festival co-founder Chang Weisberg in a press release. “The bar has been set high and this year’s line-up will certainly stake its claim. With ten of the biggest records in the history of the genre and the freshest new talent bubbling from the underground, this summer’s Rock The Bells is another dream come true.”
