Rock & Blues Concert Cruises kick off Saturday

Summer is here and with it concert season. For music fans in Boston, there are plenty of avenues for great music but perhaps none better than the annual Rock & Blues Concert Cruise series. The events combine a great cruise of Boston Harbor with awesome live music. Among the highlights this year are the Ryan Montbleau Band, Carbon Leaf and John Brown’s Body. Tickets for all of the shows are now on sale through the series’ official website.

The Rock & Blues Concert Cruise series will kick off this Saturday with a co-headlining performance from the Adam Ezra Group and Max Creek. On Saturday, June 23, The Ryan Montbleau Band will celebrate the release of their new album For Higher with special guests Sarah Borges and The Primate Fiasco. Montbleau’s album features New Orleans superstars George Porter, Ivan Neville, Anders Osborne and Simon Lott.

John Brown’s Body will return to Boston and rock the harbor on Sunday, August 12. The Rock & Blues Concert Cruise will host the Boston Tock and Soul Festival on Sunday, July 29. The afternoon cruise will pack in local favorites Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents, Will Dailey, Tim Gearan, Dennis Brennan, Jesse Dee, Roy Sludge, Love in Stockholm, Christian McNeill & Sea Monsters and more. Other can’t miss shows include local standouts Melissa Ferrick on Friday, July 27 and Lori McKenna on Sunday, August 26, both of which will be presented by Club Passim.

The Rock & Blues Concert Cruises will take part in the celebration of the bicentennial of the War of 1812 with a special Tall Ships Cruise featuring Bellevue Cadillac and the Evan Goodrow Band on Tuesday, July 3.

Beatlejuice will bring their acclaimed Beatles tribute aboard the cruise on the afternoon of Sunday, July 22, while Booty Vortex will bring their party on board Friday, July 6.

The cruises will not be limited to regional favorites as national touring bands will also make stops in Boston for cruise through the harbor. Carbon Leaf will hit the high seas on Friday, June 22, while The English Beat will perform on the afternoon of Sunday, July 15.

All of the 2012 Rock and Blues’ cruises will take place on the Provincetown II operated by Bay Sate Cruise Company. Cruises depart from the World Trade Center Pier in the Seaport District at 200 Seaport Blvd. There is a cash bar and food concessions on board and ticket holders must be at least 21-years of age.
